Could you introduce yourself in a few lines so that our community can get to know you better? How would you define your style/universe?
Mélo, Parisian jack-of-all-trades, a lot of sweetness and a bit of thick brute lurk inside me 🙂 I can't stand anything normal, I need the extraordinary in my life to fill me with wonder. I love all that glitters (literally and figuratively)! I like dark humor, which isn't always appreciated.
When was your blog created?
melolimparfaite.com 5 years ago... It went by so fast!
What triggered you to get involved in blogging and social networking?
In fact, as soon as Facebook appeared, my friends kept telling me: "Oh, these restaurants and trips you're doing are so appealing, you should start a blog". I thought no one would be interested. Then one day, we were temporarily living in San Francisco where I didn't know many people, so I decided to take the plunge and write about my little Californian life. When I got back to France, I kept going and met a lot of great people who gave me a real boost! I've always been addicted to social networking: the blog hasn't helped!
How much time do you spend on your articles or videos? youtube ? Production, editing...? Do you have any organizational tips for other bloggers and others? youtubers ?
For an article, it takes me anywhere from 3 hours to several days (for travel articles, for example, it can be very long).
Which community are you targeting?
I have a wide range of readers because I cover so many different subjects: some only read my travel articles, others read the beauty section... Some read everything because they're interested in every subject, like me! The majority of my readersrs are aged between 20 and 45.
Where do you find most of your inspiration? And which social networks do you use most?
I find my inspiration in life! The beauty of a place, the energy of a person, the emotion of music.... As for social networks, I use them all, but I have a preference for instagram and snapchat.
How do you manage your time, between your family, your work, your social networks and your blog? Do you have a job or other activity besides blogging?
I can't always do it! I have a translation agency and other services (www.deluxetraduction.com) which, depending on the period, takes up little or a lot of my time. Sometimes it's the blog that takes up the most time in a day, sometimes it's my agency. There are times when my agency takes a back seat to the blog if I have a lot of operations to manage at the same time. As for my loved ones, unfortunately I don't give them enough time.
Did one collaboration/partnership stand out for you more than others? And if so, which one?
Several collaborations have left their mark on me, but I think I can say that my last operation with Avène left even more of an impression, because they took over a restaurant and organized a meeting with 10 of my readers from all over France! They took charge and organized everything. At first I thought, "Who's going to come all this way to see me? Nobody's going to want to come! In fact, I was very surprised to see how many people were interested, and I was really moved on the day of the event by all the kind words the girls had for me. I was also touched to see that these are people I like, and that we attract people who are like us and recognize our values.
What would you like to do next in your professional life?
I'm perfectly happy with my life as it is, because I've been self-employed for 10 years, so I feel free to lead it as I wish. That said, I'd like to write one or more books.
Do you produce your own visuals and photos? And if so, what equipment do you use?
Lost of the photos are taken by the Banjo or by me when we're traveling or for looks. However, sometimes I call on my friend Max, who is often mentioned on the blog, or on professional photographers. We use a Nikon D3200 and a Canon Powershot G7x Mark II.
What advice would you give to others influencers of the community?
Just one: enjoy!
And what would you say is your main secret to success?
If there was a secret to success, I'd love to know it. The only thing I can advise is to be persistent and passionate.
What does being a blogger mean to you on a daily basis?
Magical encounters and exchanges with people I wouldn't have met otherwise! Daily discoveries that make life surprising in so many ways! I ask for more and more!
